We are pleased to announce that Te Umwanibong Act 2022 establishes a legal framework to guide the protection, management and development of our national museum and cultural heritage.
This important legislation strengthens the mandate of the Culture and Museum Division and ensures that our history, traditions and identity are well preserved for future generations.
A supporting regulation known as the Admission, Protection, Research and Permit Regulation (APPR) has also been finalized and endorsed and is now ready for full implementation. This regulation, including those currently being developed, relating to cultural and historical sites, will enable the effective implementation of the Act and further strengthen cultural preservation efforts in Kiribati.
Stay tuned as we prepare for the official kick-off of the APPR!
“Together, let’s support and comply with Te Umwanibong Act and its regulations”
